Muslim man sentenced to death in Mauritania after court rules “he insulted the prophet Mohammed”


30 yrs old Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mohamed fainted when the Nouadhibou court ruling found him guilty for insulting  Prophet Mohammed. He has being detained since January 2, during his hearing,  he was accused of apostasy “for speaking lightly of  the Prophet Mohammed”.

 His lawyer plead for leniency as he said his client was repentant but the judge agreed to the prosecutor’s request for the death penalty for Mohamed, though in Mauritania Sharia  law also know as Islamic law has being in effective in the country for a long time now.

Kogi state prison called Koton-Karfe on   Sunday night had an episode, that left the prison gates open and the inmates out on the street. Koton-Karfe is   said to be the home for armed robbers and murderers whom out of 145 inmates, 144 are said to have escape and found their way back into the society.  The Prison Break was facilitated by external attack on the prison around 9:30pm   and 10:00pm said Adams Omale the State Controller of Prison. The correctional facility was ransacked and its ceiling shattered with one of its inmates dead. 12 of the escape convict were apprehended and brought back to Koton-Karfe, these event of Prison Break took place Sunday night. After the event has piped down, the governor of the state today being Monday (03/11/2014)   pays a visit to the prison. The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Prisons service Aminu Suley also visited the Prison to witness the aftermath of the Prison Break of Sunday night (02/11/2014).
