Fugitive radical Sunni preacher attempted to enter Nigeria through Cairo


Ahmed al-Assir, a Sunni preacher, a fugitive was trying to leave Lebanon to Nigeria through Cairo using forged Palestinian document.

The militant has being on the run since June 2013, after the two day battle with the Lebanese army in the southern city of Sidon. It was alleged that he has formed an army at that time, which killed officers and soldiers, attacked an institution. The group he formed back then were able to obtained explosive materials, light and heavy weapons which they used to fight the Lebanese army.

He was reported to have shaved his beard undergone facial surgery in other to escape the country to Nigeria but he was caught and his wife attacked Lebanese army yesterday after discovering their husband has being caught

Kogi state prison called Koton-Karfe on   Sunday night had an episode, that left the prison gates open and the inmates out on the street. Koton-Karfe is   said to be the home for armed robbers and murderers whom out of 145 inmates, 144 are said to have escape and found their way back into the society.  The Prison Break was facilitated by external attack on the prison around 9:30pm   and 10:00pm said Adams Omale the State Controller of Prison. The correctional facility was ransacked and its ceiling shattered with one of its inmates dead. 12 of the escape convict were apprehended and brought back to Koton-Karfe, these event of Prison Break took place Sunday night. After the event has piped down, the governor of the state today being Monday (03/11/2014)   pays a visit to the prison. The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Prisons service Aminu Suley also visited the Prison to witness the aftermath of the Prison Break of Sunday night (02/11/2014).
