16 dead in Kwara state polytechnic student’s cult clash



The Kwara State  police command said it has arrested more than 30 suspects in connection with the clash between the Aiye and Eiye confraternities which struck first at the polytechnic which has left not less than 16 dead.

The clash has led to the shutdown of the institution indefinitely. The spokesman for the Kwara state police command Mr Ajayi Okasanmi ASP have confirmed the arrest of 14 suspects.

The incident at the institution took place at the screening of the aspirant for the Students Union Government SUG election at the weekend, and another student was killed at Asa Dam road area of the town by suspected members of Eiye confraternity, this incident later spread into other parts of the metropolis such as Agbooba, Bakoko, Sabonline, Irewolede and Niger road

Kogi state prison called Koton-Karfe on   Sunday night had an episode, that left the prison gates open and the inmates out on the street. Koton-Karfe is   said to be the home for armed robbers and murderers whom out of 145 inmates, 144 are said to have escape and found their way back into the society.  The Prison Break was facilitated by external attack on the prison around 9:30pm   and 10:00pm said Adams Omale the State Controller of Prison. The correctional facility was ransacked and its ceiling shattered with one of its inmates dead. 12 of the escape convict were apprehended and brought back to Koton-Karfe, these event of Prison Break took place Sunday night. After the event has piped down, the governor of the state today being Monday (03/11/2014)   pays a visit to the prison. The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Prisons service Aminu Suley also visited the Prison to witness the aftermath of the Prison Break of Sunday night (02/11/2014).
