Kwara state cancels independence parade following security fears

The 55th Independence Anniversary parade scheduled to hold at the Metropolitan Square in  Ilorin, the Kwara state capital have being cancels following security fears.

The cancelation was announced by Secretary to the Government Sola Gold, saying the police have reported that some individuals have entered the state on Wednesday night allegedly with the intentions of disrupting the Independence  day celebration and endangering lives.

Kogi state prison called Koton-Karfe on   Sunday night had an episode, that left the prison gates open and the inmates out on the street. Koton-Karfe is   said to be the home for armed robbers and murderers whom out of 145 inmates, 144 are said to have escape and found their way back into the society.  The Prison Break was facilitated by external attack on the prison around 9:30pm   and 10:00pm said Adams Omale the State Controller of Prison. The correctional facility was ransacked and its ceiling shattered with one of its inmates dead. 12 of the escape convict were apprehended and brought back to Koton-Karfe, these event of Prison Break took place Sunday night. After the event has piped down, the governor of the state today being Monday (03/11/2014)   pays a visit to the prison. The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Prisons service Aminu Suley also visited the Prison to witness the aftermath of the Prison Break of Sunday night (02/11/2014).
