Britain’s biggest ever freshwater catfish AKA “The Duke”
Plasterer
Dayne Bosworth had to wrestled with the monster fish, which he later nicknamed “The
Duke”. The catfish went for his mackerel bait in the depth of the lake at Oakwood
Park Fishery in Norfolk.
This big
catch came along after a four-day fishing, while he was in his tenth and
resting, Mr Bosworth was woken up in his tenth when his rod alarm went off and
his reel started screaming as the giant catfish darted off.
“On the final day of our day trip woke up and
got out of my bivvy, and just as I was having a stretch and yawn my rod alarm went off. I knew straight
away that it was a big fish by the sheer power of it.
It took
a good wrestling with the 7ft Catfish before it was put under control. It took about
20 minutes to tire and get the fish under control, he could not do it alone and
therefore, he had to enlisted the help of friends to haul the big catch to the
bank using a special landing net.
It took
three people to get the fish out of
water, Mr Bosworth say “I was blown away
by their sheer size and power, and from then on I’ve concentrated on catching
the biggest catfish” and Mr Bosworth
certainly caught one that may be considered as the biggest catch in Britain
