Budget padding: Buhari reportedly orders redeployment of 184 top officials



The President of Nigeria Mohammadu Buhari has reportedly redeployed 184 top budget officials to other parastatals that have little or nothing to do with budget as their punishment for their roles in padding the 2016 budget  sent to the national assemble.

It was reported that 22 of the officials are from the federation budget office, while others are from budget-related duties in other Ministries, Department and Agencies. Four of whom were redeployed are Directors on level 17 and six are deputy Directors, the Minister  of Budget  and National Planning Akpadem James confirmed the redeployment of the officials but refuse to give further comment to the development

Kogi state prison called Koton-Karfe on   Sunday night had an episode, that left the prison gates open and the inmates out on the street. Koton-Karfe is   said to be the home for armed robbers and murderers whom out of 145 inmates, 144 are said to have escape and found their way back into the society.  The Prison Break was facilitated by external attack on the prison around 9:30pm   and 10:00pm said Adams Omale the State Controller of Prison. The correctional facility was ransacked and its ceiling shattered with one of its inmates dead. 12 of the escape convict were apprehended and brought back to Koton-Karfe, these event of Prison Break took place Sunday night. After the event has piped down, the governor of the state today being Monday (03/11/2014)   pays a visit to the prison. The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Prisons service Aminu Suley also visited the Prison to witness the aftermath of the Prison Break of Sunday night (02/11/2014).
