Ahmed Abdi Godane Death, Ahmed Umar named Leader, Somalia’s Islamist Group
The Somalia’s Islamist group
former leader Abdi Godane is death and the group has vowed to take
revenge. He died during a US air strikes south of Mogadishu on Monday night. Al-shabab
commander Abu Mohammed said the decision to appoint Ahmed Umar leader was unanimous.
The group said avenging their leader, who is also a
scholar is a binding obligation to them all and they will never forget
it no matter how long it take.
Furthermore, the Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohammed
issued a statement on Friday urging the militants to embrace peace after the
death of their leader Ahmed Abdi Godane and gives a 45 days amnesty to who so ever will renounce the group. Godane was one of US most wanted men, African Union (AU) and
the US has driven the al-shabab from the capital of Somalia Mogadishu and other
towns since from 2011. Hoping the peace in Somalia will continue
